Blood orange or tangerine.
I think a dark Blue, lighter than a Navy would look great. It's not as bold as you think - my neighbor has this on a white house with brick and it's the only color. It's beautiful. You could also use a soft yellow and use some yellow and blue painted clay pots on the porch or in the yard that's close to the door. Another idea could be to use chalk paint and then apply wax. There is Annie sloan chalk paint, or you can buy it from Benjamin Moore in lots of colors. They can tell you about the wax finish or a clear coat non-shiny or shiny finish - whichever you might prefer. Take a picture of the front of your house and take it with you. That way you can try color chips next to the brown and see what might look best and not too bold. Miss Mustard Seed also has some great ideas on her site and will answer questions as well. Good Luck - hope I've helped somewhat. Linda
A muted burgandy.
My vote is the dark blue!
I love steel blue doors
As a pro-decorator, i am inclined to suggest to stick with the 'family of colour tones' & go a lovely Burn't orange"(this is an actual colour name & colour)... To add a slight difference, add a touch of Terracotta by creating a fine rectangle on the door, giving the look of a smaller door by bringing the painting in by 5 inches( this is if the door is just plain/flat;& if not use whatever pattern designed & touch that area only..the thickness ought not exceed an inch with any method idea....*If not good with hand painting lines then after the door is dry, using a pencil marker & a large ruler/or piece of pine, mark out the line shapes:)
Happy Crafting:)))
I think sage-green would be nice, since terracotta is in the red "family" and green is complimentary on the color wheel.
