Our lawn is bumpy with small bumps of dirt visible at times, why ?

The lawn looks healthy although a bit on the dry side in areas. We live on an acreage so watering it isn't an option. Nature does that. A friend told us it was mealy worms, I don't have a clue. How do we get rid of it? Can't post a picture as we still have snow.

It could be June or May bugs,laves.They can eat up the roots and then the grass are unable to take up the water,so the ground drys out. But,go to a garden center and ask some one WHO know what it could be,.

It could also be mole rats. Tiny animals who live under ground and compromise your root system. Google yard bumps/mole rats. They're cute but can ruin your yard!!
