My Brown Paper Bag Floor
by

Tim and I had a ceramic tile floor laid in our kitchen as a wedding gift from a friend. Although this had been his trade for 25 years, for some reason our tile didn’t adhere well and soon cracked. We lived with cracked tile for years, then finally plywood! I know it’s strange, but I just didn’t know what I wanted and everything we looked at was $3,000! It’s a huge commitment when you don’t know what you want!
One day I searched DIY inexpensive kitchen floors and I found Paper Bag floors. I fell in love with them, but wasn’t sure how well it would do, especially in a kitchen. I researched more, and finally decided to do it.

CC on Dec 23, 2014Why does Lisa's floor look so professional and actually look like stones, but the other pics I'm seeing really aren't that great. I really wanted to do this to my kitchen floor, but I don't want it to look like some of the others. Lisa, any suggestions what not to do?

If you want more of a leather look crinkle your paper up a couple times by laying it flat then crinkling it up again wear gloves if you have a lot to do it'll save your hands. Also if you're using craft paper/Carpenter paper watch the sides that you use and remember what side is what because it the sides have different textures and will give you different results.

Bobbi Jo Berwick Scott on Feb 13, 2015It's the way you tear the paper and lay it. Use different sizes or crumble the paper a little less or more, depending on how you did it.
