How do I take care of raspberry plants?

Some of my neighbor's plants have gravitated into my garden area. I'd like to keep them but don't know how to take care of them for the greatest yield.

Water well and prune dead canes out in either fall or spring

Bulldog is right but also cut the new canes (they grow one season, produce the next) down to approx 5'. They are pretty easy to look after. Enjoy!
