How about repurposing a used cabinent from Habitat for Humanity Restore, or an old dresser can be converted to a bathroom vanity and is very much in style. You can also paint the top with epoxy paint to look like marble. https://www.pinterest.com/explore/dresser-to-vanity/?lp=true

You can buy custom doors on ebay for cheaper than DIY; the rails & stiles are super easy (use a kreg jig & straight cuts) If you need sides have plywood cut (use good quality 'face' plywood)
Sand, stain, poly, done.
Without knowing your woodworking background it would be difficult to recommend building your own cabinet from scratch. Converting an old kitchen cabinet or, dresser would probably be the way to go. Remember if the cabinet is deeper than standard you're going to have to adjust for that difference on the counter top. It would probably be easier to use the vessel style sinks and use a waterproof material for the cabinet top.
