How can I use crown molding in a small home with small rooms?
I love crown molding and would like to use it in some way in my home. I am worried that using crown molding in a small area will only make the room appear smaller.
Here's an idea. Cut out a piece of white and a piece of black paper to simulate the crown molding. Then put each one up for a few days. See how each one strikes you as you enter the room. Leave each one long enough that it isn't the first thing you notice when you enter the room, then switch. Leave that one the same length of time. That might help you decide.
This article shows how these people worked around things that weren't quite right. It also depends on if your door goes almost to the ceiling or if there is even room for the crown molding.
