We used to own a Cartridge World and we sold recycled cartridges. Do not buy compatible. They are not good. You want to buy a recycled cartridge if you want it cheaper. Compatibles do not use the original hardware of the cartridge, whereas recycled ones have just refilled the original HP/Brother/Epson cartridge so you are getting the good hardware. Hope that helps.
If you have a Costco membership see if yours refills your cartridges. Mine does. you take them in they fill them up. The newer printers will tell you if you are using a generic cartridge and will tell you it will void your warranty. I used them anyway as my printer was old and out of warranty. They seem to work ok but they can dry out and stop working. You have to clean the print heads like 5 times to get them working again.
If you have used the brand of V4INK's toner cartridge, you won't want to change any other brand. It's the best compatible toner cartridge I've ever used. It's cheap and good quality.
