How to remove fabric and glue from river stone tile sheets?

I have left over river stone tile that was used on our shower floor. I would like to remove the stones from the burlap backing and use them on other projects. The problem is getting the glue off of each individual stone after removing it from the backing. Any ideas? Thanks. Love this site!

I have lots of those river-rock square tiles and want to use them for something else - I've gotten a lot of them off the netting on back - SOME have glue that won't come off - I wonder if HEAT will work? Since I'm using mine in a similar way - it won't matter except when it's too much to lay flat. GOOD LUCK

Have you tried using ice to freeze and remove? I would try scraping off what I could first.
