Cleanability of seagrass and other natural fiber rugs

I was wondering if anyone has a seagrass area rug? I'm thinking of getting one for my living room, but I have an old dog who has been known to have an occasional accident. I wondered how he would react to the seagrass? Would he feel like it was some type of grass and be attracted to it? How does it clean up?

Natural fiber rugs are difficult to maintain without having introducing a dog in the mix. Lots of normal cleaning chemicals cannot be used. While they look great, the fibers are not as strong as man made fibers and with doggie nails and accidents, I would think about this as a purchase. I would check also with the manufacture of the rug to see what their opinion would be on this. My thoughts they would suggest not to expose the dog to the rug.
