Do not let the grass seed before you cut it Fix a grass box to mower
You can add some edging. They sell black plastic that you hammer in right at the border of the garden. This would help prevent the grass from coming in.
Cleaning up right after mowing helps. As does a border or edging between the grass and flower beds.. I use mulch/bark on my beds, it helps keep the grass from germinating. Preen works well too- a corn based preemergiant).
Always, if you see grass go to seed, remove the head before the seeds before they can dry enough to come off. Sometimes they sprout before you need to mow, this will prevent the seed from getting into your garden.
Some things just can't be tamed! The best way to handle it is to pull it out everyday and don't give it a chance to take over.
If you like mulch in your flower beds, try placing several sheets of newspaper (non-glosssy) or cardboard underneath the mulch---excellent for killing weeds and unwanted grass. Applied at the borders keeps a nice clean line and its safe/biodegradable. It will help build your soil though you will have to over time replace it as needed.
