Every Saturday morning, my granddaughters and I "docrafts." I needed to separate my craft supplies (some of which aren'tchild-appropriate) and kid-safe supplies in the interest of not ending up inthe emergency room. I found this "slotted box" at a local thrift shopfor $4. The box may have once been storage for video tapes or somethingsimilar. I added two knobs, lined the slots with squares of upholstery vinylwhich I got free from my local upholsterer's scrap pile, and put the box underthe couch. The girls have easy access to their "craft center," thevinyl allows them to easily remove items from the slots, and when not in use,the whole thing is hidden by my coffee table. Some day I may get around to paintingand stenciling it, but it's fine for now.
