What is your question precisely, April?

  • What kind of curtains? Bedroom, living room, kids room, etc? Make yourself or purchase?

  • Do you know the fabric content? Some have tages on them with cleaning instructions just like clothes. When I purchase curtains or drapes, I keep one of the package inserts in my warranty file just for this purpose. If you are not sure if machine washable, I would err on the side of caution and have dry cleaned.

Depends on the Material -- they may need to be drycleaned, -- are they stained w/ something? Heavy 'formal' curtains can be vacuumed with the brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner -- if they are small, and washable - you need to know what the material is, -- if there is a liner Dry cleaning would be the way to go - would be different material; if Blackout curtains - some are washable at home, some must be drycleaned ---

You need to check the care label for directions. Most can be laundered on a gentle cycle and then line dried out of direct sunlight, then pressed or steamed. I hang mine up directly from the washer until they are dry and then I use a steamer instead of an iron.
