Before and After of a New Chest of Drawers

This is a transformation of a New Chest of Drawers. Commonly found in new, showroom floor furniture, it is made of some real wood as well as quite a bit of pressed board. It had a vinyl type fake wood finish that really needed some help!

Is the hardware the same color as the original; I can't tell from the pictures, but it looks darker. If so, what did you do to it?

Here is the chest that I want to redo. I am not sure about painting or staining. It's over 50 years old, belonged to my parents. I inherited it just after my mom passed away in May. I want to use this in my scrapbook room, my desk and side table are a dark walnut finish and I don't plan on doing anything to those, so I wanted to have this chest coordinate somehow without being so matchy. Any suggestions??? Thanks!!!

Patty I love this. You have a way with color. I've never attempted chalk painting but I have a piece I am wondering about. I'll take a pic & post it to you for your suggestions, if you don't mind.

In your 4th. up close pic; How did you get the lines inside the piece looking darker? I have a piece I'm wanting to do in 2 different colors like this. Any suggestions? And when do you apply the wax? What does the wax do? Thnx.
