New Uses for Old Things, a Soup Bowl

When my traditional soap dish flaked and rusted, it was time for a replacement. After months of trying to find a soap dish, I found just what I was looking for right here at home. And the best part is an old, mismatched bowl got a new use.
My Mom and I got this lovely, white bowl from Southern Living at a Goodwill store a couple of years ago. It never really found a home until recently when I decided it would make the perfect soap dish!

I love it! Isn't it great when you can find a totally different use for something? I use a thrift store gravy boat and an old silverplate cup and not matching plate to corral pocket items in the laundry room; one for my husband on one for me. I empty them every month or so, whenever they are full. It's mostly phone numbers, receipts and soda pop tabs. The items didn't go through the wash and ruin my machine so a few minutes once a month to sort them out is time well spent.

@Kelly S I love that idea! I need to be better about checking pockets when I do laundry. I'm always finding coins and shredded receipts in the washing machine.

I used to find ear plugs and electrical lugs! Now I just put everything in the gravy boats and empty them when they get full.
