Can my 50's pink tiled bathroom be painted?
I have a pink tiled bathroom straight out of the 50's. I can't afford to knock out walls and redo from start. I've heard tiles can be painted. Has anyone got pictures... See more
Since you say they're small areas, I'll mention something just a little pricey--peel and stick tile decals. Black and white would make those stray hairs virtually invisible: http://a.co/9Th7xm0
You can also paint tile. It's an inexpensive option, but any color dark enough to disguise black cat hair is likely to make your kitchen and bathroom look oppressively dark.
What is the tile made of????
How about painting the tile? They sell kits at most home improvement and hardware stores.
You can paint it or go on Amazon and look up tile stickers .
I just painted mine with interior SATIN house paint, the color you want. It held up a few years that I know of, but then I sold the house, so not sure what it looks like. I made sure of a couple coats though. I liked it alright cause I didn't like all white tile and all white cupboards. I wouldn't try to scrub hard to clean either. It was easy on the budget. : )
Not sure of it being in a bathroom. Mine was in my kitchen. : )
Tile stickers are great. Cheap, quick and easy to put on and no long-term commitment. They stick great but are easy to remove when you want to change them out. They come in a variety of styles and patterns. I put some in my bathroom and have attached a picture to show you. I just put them on every other tile.
Yes, Kathy Poore Rooney. Hello. I have suggestions ;) I don't know if you are talking about floor tiles or wall tiles or both (but I THINK you are talking about floor tiles). I also don't know if you are renting or if you own the property. IF you are a renter, be sure to get your landlord's permission before making permanent changes. If you are a renter, you can make temporary changes using sticky backed paper (contact paper) that comes in solid colors as well as prints (like realistic looking wood floor planks, brick work, mosaic tile look, etc.) I have posted links below to tell you how to have a "new" floor by painting your tiles or by using contact paper ;) You could also paint AND stencil them (and, you do NOT have to use the same colors that are being used in the link, but the products are important: floor cleanser, paint brushes, paint color of choice, color sealer, etc). You might want to mix it up by using contact paper on the kitchen .. a darkish marble perhaps? .. and painting the bathroom (if your worried about contat peeling up due to humidity.
After you read, or watch, the links and decide on the way you want to do it, I am sure you will love your choice :)

(if you don't want to stencil the floor, then clean and prepare the floor as directed, and just paint the floor the solid color that you want it to be, skipping the stenciling step, and move on to the sealer step).

Actually, I take back my comment above about how any paint color dark enough to hide black cat hair might be too dark for your kitchen or bath. That might be true for a solid color, but this Hometalk project features painted tile that the homeowner stenciled with a black and white pattern: http://www.hometalk.com/diy/paint/i-painted-and-stenciled-my-ceramic-tile-30107044 It looks beautiful!

If the tiles are not that broken where as the floor is not level, research closeouts on Laminate flooring.
Thank you! That is an idea I am looking into!
