The least expensive is to put a 1/2 inch board the width of the couch under the pillows.
you can order supports in various catalogs or online, but our friends cut a piece of plywood and put it under the cushions and long enough to rest on the frame of the bed. It was perfect! (they were very heavy people and the couch was like new again!)
The springs are weak on our old couch which is in good shape....glad to hear the idea of a piece of plywood under the cushions would work.
