How to make slipcovers

I have 2 large pieces of foam one is 8 ft long 3 ft wide 15 inches thick, the other is 5 ft long, 3 ft wide and 15 inches thick, that was once an l shaped couch that I want to make into a sofa and loveseat-there are huge cushions that went around the back of this that I also have to recover-some were made into 3 foot pillows and one was a long tube. I also need suggestions on the kind of material to use to be durable, easy clean and pet proof.

You will have to buy bulk material to cover pieces this long. I just covered something similar for my outdoor lounges. I bought 20 yards of Sunbrella fabric, then laid out the fabric with RIGHT SIDES together. I put the cushion between and pinned the wrong side and left 4 inches on the side I wanted to put the zipper in (the long side in the back). You may have to cut a long piece that covers the sides of the cushions to join to the tops and bottoms. I then sewed around my pins and cut away the excess fabric. I dry fit the cushion again and marked areas that needed to be fine tuned. At this point, I folded the 4-inch areas down and pinned for the zipper. You can buy industrial zippers at www.wawack.com. I then removed the cushion, sewed the fine-tuned areas and sewed the zipper.
