It has a long tradition of culinary and medical use.a
When you cook your favorite pasta, think about chopping up some Sage leaves; it enhances the flavor of the pasta and it garnishes the dish. Enjoy!
Sage is also known for its natural use as mouthwash because its tannins are thought to help kill the bacteria that cause gingivitis. Sage has traditionally been used to treat canker sores, bleeding gums, sore throat, memory boosts, and much more.
Don't worry if you think that it's too difficult to grow. It's actually really easy to grow; almost carefree.

That's so funny, Douglas. I'm the opposite. I hear "sage," and the first thing that comes to mind is Russian sage or sage sticks, not the herb. Guess I have lived here in the high western desert for too long.
  • Steve, sagebrush, tumble weed in southern California Deserts. That was the first "sage I ever knew as a kid growing. My favorite to look at is Mexican Bush Sage. Velvety soft blooms, but watch out for the bees if you are going to feel the flowers.
