Mod podge is glue mixed with water. YOU can put it on pactically any surface. My grandaughters spiced up their art pads. They found a paper they liked, tore it up, put modpodge on cover of art book, then covered with more modpodge. People have used napkins and put them on dresser drawers. The best way to see results is pick an old something and try it. Use napkins, paper, material. It is asy. I have done it to shoe boxes that I used for storage in my bookcase.
Mod Podge is a wonderfully versatile glue. It dries clear so it is great for paper and fabric crafts. I suggest you take look at the maker's online project ideas for help (Maker is Plaid).

Mod podge is just diluted glue. Mostly used to paste items (paper, small items) to any surface (pumpkin forms, wall plaques, etc) You put the item (a nice napkin that you have separated each ply) on your form, cover (paint)with mod podge, then after all is covered with whatever décor you want on your form you "paint' the mod podge over it all again. There is shiny mod podge or matte. Google mod podge and you will find tons of ideas. Good luck and have fun!
Here is a link from Pinterest with lots of ideas, pinterest will be your best friend to find crafts for this:

There are so many awesome ways to use Modge Podge. I've used it mixed with food coloring to paint glass, I hung some fabric on the inside of my pantry doors with it and line drawers with fabric or craft paper. Go to their website and you will find some other awesome ideas.
Cut out pictures from old greeting cards, and use modge podge to put them on to wood cigar boxes (about $1.00 each at cigar shops) or to her pieces o0f wood.
Idle hands are the devil’s workshop! Think of Gesso as being white glue, paint and water that provides a primer for many projects, especially those using fabric or canvas. Modge Podge is white glue and water that is used as a top coat preservative. Many coats become decoupage! Anytime you need ideas on what to do with something you have, ask on Hometalk.com. I’m 68. When I decide to start decorating my broom and mop, and making a little lady to cover my vacuum and bathroom plunger, I think I will have gone too far—but I certainly remember those in many houses! 😇
I use it on painted furniture and add wrapping paper or tissue paper for a design. Here is example of one of my projects with Mod Podge - a before and after of the nightstand:
Thanks to all that have given me advice, now I will try a few projects and see what happens. Thanks again.
Depends on which Mod Podge you have. They are water based glues with many craft uses from Decoupage, Paper Mache, Fabric glue & sealer on furniture. Can be used on many surfaces. Wonderful stuff to have been given.
