How to remove grout sealer from matte tile...

I did a very foolish thing. I covered my matte tiles with grout sealer, because I liked the shine. But things did not turn out well. Now I want to remove it. I tried vinegar with dishwashing liquid, Comet, and Lysol spray. HELP!!!

Thank you. Very interesting! Only my problem is slightly different. It is not the grout. It concerns the liquid grout SEALER - translucent and shiny. I covered the matte tiles on purpose with this liquid, trying to make it shine. What a mistake! I need to remove it. I thought Stanley Steemer would come in to do the job, but even they had no answer.....

Elbow grease and a damp sponge.

Thank you, Joychevi! I wish, it were that simple. I tried that also to no avail.

Look on the container of grout sealer, it should tell you how to clean it up.

That's a good idea! I never thought of that! An additional problem is that I covered the entire floor: LR, Bkfst nook, kitchen DR, hallways....

Sorry. I missed the meaning of your question. If you still have the container, a phone call to the maker might help you. There are all kinds of harsh removers but they may damage your tile.

Hm, I wonder, what happened to my answer. It was quite lengthy.

I was saying, that I will be away until the end of December, but then I will call the company. Good advice!

Unfortunately I covered all tile in LR, DR, breakfast nook, hallways, kitchen, etc.

I considered removing and replacing all tile, but that costs $10,000.- or more!

There's got to be another solution. Help!!! I am so mad at myself for doing such a stupid thing. I hope nobody will ever do what I did!

Thank you again! I am not on location right now. When I get back the end of next month, I will follow your recommendation.

I even considered removing and replacing all the tile, but that would cost way over $10,000!!! What a mistake I made! I am so mad at my self. Hear me world: Don't ever do, what I did!

Yes, when you get home, just call the manufacturer. Lysol is a disinfectant so don’t use that as it won’t work; save your money; and Comet or Ajax, etc. will just scratch your tile so I’d avoid that too. Maybe turpentine might help BUT please call the company first.

Don’t beat yourself up ... we all do things sometime down the road that we regret later. Usually, there is a solution and I wish you luck. If the company suggests turpentine, please shut your pets and children in another room and ventilate well when using it. There is an odorless form of turpentine (IF the company suggests its use) but it still has some odor to it but much less than regular turpentine.

      Dear Elaine,

Thank you for caring. I will certainly follow your advice. Maybe there is a way to let you all know, how I made out. I would like that. THANK YOU ALL!
