planting now will bloom in spring
Tulip bulbs should be planted six weeks before first frost. They need that extra time to go dormant for the winter. I live in Illinois and it is too late here. Best wishes.
You don't say where you live. Tulip bulbs need a cold and dormant period in order to bloom. Where you live is important as to whether or not you can still plant them this year. When the come up depends on when spring comes in your area. This spring mine came up early because we had a real warm early spring. Normally not that early. The only thing you can do is research and see if there are later blooming tulips that will come up when you want them, but it is hard to say if they will bloom before or after that depending on how the weather behaves in the spring.
Usually tulip bulb planting happens around September/October. But it does depend on where you are located
Tulips are an early spring flower. Plant something else if you don't want them to do their thing.
It really does depend on your location as well as the weather during the winter and early spring. If you plant them very deep, it will take them a little bit longer to come up every year. My tulips come up at various times due to the weather each year though. Good luck, I hope you get the spring display you‘re looking for!
