Mid-Century Renovation
by
Heirloom Design Build
(IC: professional)
Project Summary:
Although outside of our regular large-scale renovations, we took on a smaller project and helped an aging woman remodel her home for independent in-town living. Our internal design team took on the challenge of creating a modern look and feel, with handicapped accessibility, on a fixed budget.
Project Features:
To make this single-family small brick house handicap accessible the floor plan had to be easier to navigate - doorways were made wider and the bathroom was completely updated with a walk-in shower with no ledges. The owner of the home chose not to have a ramp built at the time, but the design is such that, if needed, an outside ramp can easily be added. The kitchen was updated with new cabinets and appliances and the original flooring was restored throughout the house.Outside, the house was given a much needed face-lift and a back deck was built that is ready for entertaining.

Joffler on May 21, 2014I think the exterior was very nicely executed. The concrete stoop and chimney not some much needed attention. Fresh paint and cedar siding really freshened up the exterior. I'm glad the original door was maintained and that the shutters and doors share the same color and that the canopy got a beefier upgrade. . But, what really does it for me is the attention the windows got. I don't know if they were replaced but I suspect the aluminum frames and muntins were painted and that one little detail energizes the whole exterior for me.
