I had wanted a tripod lamp for sometime but the cost was very prohibitive (the one I liked was$599.Really!?!). So I set out to find a suitable substitution…SKI POLES! Often I look for something that will substitute for the thing I am wanting or needing and I usually can get it for a better price to. These poles only cost me $9.95 for two sets of bamboo poles at my local thrift store and I had some table legs hanging around that I used a chunk of to attach the poles to for stability.
A drill and lighting kit later and I had my very own original tripod lamp.

This is a close up of how I notched the bamboo end to have it fit flush against the round table leg joint.

Amy Ogden-Paparone on Oct 19, 2014I'm with you on wanting a tripod lamp, and forget even paying $100 nevermind $500! That's crazy talk!! Absolutely love this lamp! What a great idea!

Kris on Jul 31, 2015I love this idea. I think it would be great in a ski chalet (cabin).
