I love "marrying" unrelated items such as this luggage rack and onion crate. As is typical with me, I wasn't sure what I was making when I put these two together, but love the possibilities and versatility with the finished piece.
A thrift store luggage rack and a garage sale crate (NOT old!) join together to make a fun storage piece.
After securing the crate to the rack with screws, I painted it a light celery green. I did add a lillte unsanded grout to my paint to help it stick better to the glossy luggage rack.
A light turquoise paint layer was added next.
Followed by a sea blue/ green color that I mixed up. I then gave it a light sanding and a couple good coats of a clear sealer meant for outdoor use.
I added some handles to the crate.
A liile plaque painted with chalkboard paint helps personalize this. This plaque was a candle scone--I just removed the part that held the candle.
It makes a fantastic place for plants and flowers. I would love herbs in it!
It would work well in the bathroom for towels and TP.
Or how about using it in a baby's room for stuffed animals and blankets? Where would you use it?
Enjoyed the project?
