Rit Dye Stained Tool Box

A fun DIY project for Father's Day. With all the colors of Rit Dye available the possibilities are endless!
The finished product. I used a wood crate from Michael's, Candy Apple Red Rit ColorPerfect kit, metal measuring tape, Silhouette Cameo, black adhesive vinyl, and paper tags.
After wiping the crate with a cloth to remove dust, I painted the dye all over the box using the enclosed brush. After letting it sit for a few minutes, I wiped it down with a towel and repeated the process until I had the shade I wanted.
Next, I measured and cut strips of a measuring tape then hot glued it to the slats of the crate. Note: Be sure to lock the tape before cutting so it doesn't retract and disappear. *my method left the edges of the tape measure sharp. I would reccomend folding the ends over before gluing or using a soft measuring tape.
I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the phrase "No one measures up to you, Dad!" and then transferred it to the end of the crate. This could also be done with regular adhesive letters.
I used the Silhouette Cameo to cut labels. I wrote sayings about dads that corresponded to different tools then attached them.
I added the tools to the box.
Another angle of the finished product.
