Crossbuck/Barn Door Wainscoting

I am in the midst of making over our dining room to give it a french farmhouse feel. To achieve this I decided to add custom wainscoting to the bottom half of the walls.
This is what the wall looked liked BEFORE.
I decided on a 22 inch square design. To make sure that was the size I actually wanted and to see just how each square would look I made templates out of printer paper.
The design was super easy to implement! I had ZERO wood working skills before I started on this project. The boards went up super fast! I just used our nail gun to secure them.
The Crossbuck/Barn Door design adds the perfect rustic farmhouse charm I was after. Be sure to stop on by the blog to see more pics!

LinJ47 on Jun 11, 2014I LOVE this look! With a last name like Barnes I am always trying to incorporate barn designs throughout our home. Seeing this I am inspired to try this with a bathroom cabinet makeover in our guest bathroom! Love the idea that you drew out paper templates before hand! GREAT JOB!!!
