Growing Onions From Scraps

Easy
I may never buy onions again. Growing Onions from Scraps is easy! It has been over a month since I got a CSA delivery, but in that last box was a bunch of green onions...
As I made dinner one night, I chopped an onion down to the white bulb and stared at it, appraising it. The roots seemed strong, the onion crunchy and fresh…so I stuck it in a tiny glass with a bit of water and left it. Within 24 hours there was new, green growth!
A few nights later I used another green onion and treated it the same – and again, within one day, there was visible growth.

Now I have a small glass full of onions that I water every day…I can trim them here and there and use fresh onion greens over and over again!

One of the greens is soon to flower. Beautiful AND useful in my windowsill!
Lovely onions minced with fresh herbs from my garden, ready to be added to a hot pan and sauteed with chicken to top a spring green salad.
