I have been seeing so much beautiful glassware around that has that beach glass feel and look. So, I decided to try to duplicate it myself.
I bought several pieces of glassware while out thrifting one day with the intention of playing with them and coming up with some upcycled and recycled pieces.
For the large vases I picked up I decided to do a mod podge technique I had read about to see how if it truly worked and how it actually looked. If it went bad I was only out $.50 - $1.00. So I mixed food coloring in the mod podge - just adding one drop at a time till I got the color I wanted. Paint it on the glass and let it dry.
This is what they look like after drying a couple of days. They are dry almost instantly but I let them cure before using them. I have to add that I did not use water proof mod podge so this can wash off in a dishwasher but hold up under just a damp rag if need to be cleaned. I love the results and have used this technique a lot on some other decorative pieces. For more pictures and details please go to the URL below.
