DIY Gift Box With Chalkboard Paint

How many ways to upcycle a cardboard box...how about as a gift box. I needed a big box, for a big birthday gift for one of my friends. The closest thing in size was a cardboard box that I retrieved from work.
Sure it was a bit grungy and I had to remove some of the tape.
But all the box wording and ups labels were located in such a spot that I figured if I lined the edges of the box with Shape Tape and painted it with chalkboard paint, it would cover all the ugly stuff up.
Which it did, quite nicely. I did have to be careful when removing the Shape Tape, but otherwise, it gave a nice clean paint line.
Then I was able to write whatever I wanted on the "chalkboard".
I was thinking they could be painted any color, or used for any occasion, and it doesn't just have to be for big gifts, either!

Myrna Engle on Nov 09, 2014That is the most inspired use of chalk paint that I have seen yet. It is so unique that I may try painting Christmas gifts. Thanks for your post. Just great.
