Glamour Dresser

A dark, boring dresser needed new life. I decided to go the glamour route.
One dresser in need of a pick me up.
I prepped by cleaning the dresser, filling in holes and sad spots with wood filler. I put it up on pieces of wood and spread newspaper under it. I also covered up the mirror with newspaper and painters tape.
I painted the entire dresser using a mixture of white paint and a little acrylic gesso. Four coats did the trick. I then used a stencil on the drawers and enamel paint in red violet. When that was dry, I daubed copper enamel paint using the same stencil. I decided to not use the stencil on the spaces between the drawers but used the same red violet and copper enamel paints.
Valve openers used as drawer pulls
I wanted different drawer pulls, and had a small collection of valve openers on hand. I painted them with the copper enamel paint. Then I realized I needed something to space the valve opener out from the drawers, so I used wooden thread spools cut in half. Carriage bolts fit nicely through the centers of all the pieces.
