Tammy Grebba on Aug 02, 2014especially from the looks of the flowers. If it is a fruiting passion flora it is edible I think they make wine from the fruit.Helpful Reply

Dorothy on Aug 03, 2014My first thought on seeing the leaves was "it isn't grape, might be kudzu" but then saw the flower....definitely a member of the passion flower family. The fruits are called "maypops" and are edible when fully ripe in the fall (outer skin gets leathery and the fruit begins to look wrinkled). Spreads by seed and you can make cuttings. There are a number of varieties of these....including some natives with blue/purple/white flowers that are stunning.Helpful Reply

Julie on Aug 03, 2014Thank you to all! Passion flower vine huh? Hmm. I'll look more online under "passiflora incarnata" Luis, thank you. At least now I have a reference. Ya'll are all great, I appreciate it!Douglas, I haven't seen it anywhere else in our yard but will look for it now. We keep things clipped down pretty well, it could be it just didn't have time to grow, well, with the exception of this one of course.Thank GOD it's not kudzu Dorothy, whew!! That'd be awful. We already have an intrusive vine here (everywhere, ugh) but I'm fairly sure it's not kudzu. I'd hate another one like it!Tammy, the berries are edible too? Interesting! We grow lots of fruits/veggies so I welcome another! :)Helpful Reply

Julie on Aug 04, 2014OK, another question. When I looked up passiflora online, none of the pictures matched up to mine. Many of those flowers were purple which mine is not (except one berry), mine is green & the flowers are white. The leaves were differently shaped too. Does someone maybe have a link where they've seen similar pictures to mine? Or does the color & shape change as it matures, like so many other plants? Thanks!Helpful Reply

Dorothy on Aug 04, 2014Not sure which variety yours is but the flower shape/structure says passionflower of some kind. Do you have an agricultural extension agent in your area? They might have more info for you.Helpful Reply
