I wanted to spruce up the TV / entertainment wall in our living room and we also needed more storage space. After keeping a sharp eye on Craigslist, I finally came across a listing for a pair of shelves that were perfect for the project.
Here's what the shelves looked like when I brought them home. The owner had put a sloppy coat of thick brown paint on them. Nothing against brown, but I had something lighter and brighter in mind.
I spent several hours sanding the shelves to remove bumps and drips from the previous paint job. Then I primed and painted them with white semi-gloss.
Once the paint was dried and cured, we added three plywood shelves that my husband made; one shelf for across the top, spanning the two "towers," one across the middle for the TV to sit on, and one towards the bottom.
I added some large baskets for toy storage and we were set! We now have a lovely looking wall unit with LOTS of needed storage. Have you hauled home and transformed a Craigslist or other secondhand find? I'd love to hear about it in the comments!
Enjoyed the project?
