Tips on Day to Day Bathroom Upkeep

Ensuring that your bathroom is as clean as possible at all times comes down to the ways in which you treat and use it on a day to day basis. You will find that the general maintenance of the bathroom will be what holds it back from getting to be too much of a place of mold, soap scum, lime scale and dirt, which are all common problems in ill treated bathrooms! Have a look over the following tips for reducing the likelihood of said issues.
Open the windows! Many bathrooms suffer from mold and dampness in the walls because of bad ventilation. Hot showers and baths will cause steam, and when steam cools, the droplets of water that form can seep into the walls and the corners of the room, causing mold and musty smells to occur. If these are not tackled or prevented, then the mold can spread, and certain materials in the room can rot, leaving nasty smells and disintegrating areas. Ventilating the room by opening the windows will mean that you are less likely to suffer from this, as the steam will be drawn out of the room.
You will find that leaving the water and soap scum in place for too long will make it almost impossible to remove, so if you see soap building up in certain places, rinse it away. The same goes for limescale and water marking. You should clean these areas lightly, but regularly, so that they don’t build up in to a grimy problem.

If you notice after your bath or shower that you have left loads of hair or dirt in the bath, then rinse it away, and make sure that it does not get stuck ion the plughole. One of the main causes of water marks is water standing in one position for too long, and this deposits the dirt in it onto the sides of the bath. Blocked plug holes encourage this.
Get rid of empty product bottles as soon as they are finished, and you will be able to keep the general clutter in the bathroom as low as possible. While everyone needs products in the bathroom to clean with, they are very messy, and having them out in the open is a sure fire way to encourage soap scum, a the bottles will often have residue on them that will mix with the water and steam in the air, creating more mess and stains. Use a soap dish for the same reason, to avoid the soap spreading all over the edges of the bath or shower, or wherever you keep it.

Clean up product spills as soon as they happen. Leaving them in place can mean that they dry up and become more difficult to get rid of later on. You will find that they can get slippery underfoot as well, creating a serious hazard! Make sure you deal with these things as soon as you can to avoid any issues resulting from spills and stains.
Bleach the toilet bowl regularly, and do not forget to mop around the back of the toilet itself, as this is a place where dirt collects, and terrible smells can arise from. Mopping the bathroom is something that people do not do enough, and you will find that it can clean up the whole look of the room a surprising amount. If you are careful with the maintenance of the room as a whole, then you will not have to worry about the rest.

Once all is said and done, you will have your bathroom neat and clean without too much effort involved in the process.
