Chest of Drawers Get A Makeover!

Easy
Hey! Although we have a built in wardrobe in our room, and 2 spare bedrooms with built in wardrobes, it seems my endless supply of clothes had left us needing more space, so the obvious solution was to head to Ikea.
We chose this chest of drawers for some much needed storage.
The only problem I had was this was the wood effect. Not really a big problem, I know, but we don't have exposed wood anywhere in the house. (Other than the downstairs flooring so I think the prospect of it just makes me nervous, and I've no idea why). So I did this:
I painted the entire unit white, and then with some deep blue paint and a little frog tape I created some fun drawer designs! It took me a full day to do as it took quite a few coats of white but it I love how it turned out!
We got this lamp as a gift for buying our home 4 years ago and although the shade doesn't really go, I love the base (I am currently on the hunt for a new shade). I try to keep the top as clutter-less as possible but sometimes there is just too much cute stuff and nowhere to put it!
I have my Molten Brown Soothing Hand Lotion and an Urban Outfitters bowl that I use for everyday earrings and hair clips positioned pride of place.
I also keep a candle, and a potted plant here, just to add some femininity and comfort to the space.
I picked up this picture frame set in Matalan of all places, for £10, I've added a photo of Charlie, obviously, and a potted cactus plant image in another. I've left 2 free, simply because I love the idea that one is for 'the kids,' and I think I am going to keep it this way until I have a photo to put in there of my kid. =)
What do you think? Is this something you have tried or would like to try?
