Old Bird Bath makes a great plant stand for fern. The bird bath was not even a year old and it started leaking.

Cindy Nelson on Mar 30, 2015I have an old, painted blue birdbath that leaks also, so instead of recasting it with concrete, I'll make use of it with new paint and a spectacular fern for my porch this spring. It gets real windy since my house faces North, so the heaviness of the birdbath will not tip over as easily as my wire plant stands. Thanks for sharing your idea.

I've always wanted an old cement birdbath so I could use it as a plant stand. No kidding. I would paint it solid white, and have an over-stuffed geranium pot or a really full fern on top.

Have a question about this project?
Did you do anything to the birdbath before declaring it a plant stand? Did you paint, stain, or seal the cement, just for aesthetic reasons? I love the simple genius behind this.
