Mosaic Buffet Table (made From Old Doors)

What do you get when you cross a couple of old doors and a box of tile fragments? A super-neato mosaic buffet table that rolls right over your upright freezer and recycling bins!
As much as I love our upright freezer and convenient recycling nook, both are an eye sore. After a bit of brainstorming and a visit to Craigslist, I decided a table made of old doors would fit over the freezer perfectly and would be long enough to hid the recycling bins, too!
Why stop at a table? Several years ago, a friend gave me a collection of broken pottery pieces which I have been hoarding for the right moment. Doors have the perfect insets for mosaic work and since I had a lot of leftover grout and sheetrock mix from other projects, I didn't need to spend money on extra materials.
A painter's cloth was long enough to span the length of the table and it hides everything very nicely.

Leilani Smith on Sep 08, 2014I wish we had a pick-up system here. I have to load my bins up and drive into town.

Very beautiful, but please check the doors for lead paint before using them for projects like this. It is easy to do with a 3M leadcheck swab ($10 from the home improvement store). If the door is leaded, this would not be a good option for a buffet table, especially if young children are going to be around/using it.
