Professional cleaning recommended using hot water extraction method, but would like to clean rug myself using my Bissell steam cleaner. Pile is 100% olefin. Has anyone had any experience with this?

thinking doing it without the microfiber pad and ten sucking out the excess water with the shop vac would work best. I'll let you know how it works when I get a chance to try it Nancy.
I do not have a power washer, and anything left outside to dry would take forever in this humidity. So... Put area rug on top of carpet I had not yet cleaned, vacuumed it, then used Bissell steam cleaner on normal setting to clean, went over it with clear water to rinse, and finally went over it many times just extracting water. Has been drying overnight and looks great today!
Oh yay! Glad to hear it worked Nancy. I'll love my Bissell steamer even more now! I must add since you mentioned putting it on normal setting, is your Bissell steam cleaner for hard floors or carpets?
