Really NICE! You took the drop Leaves off? -
Yes I did, they were in very bad condition. -
Linda, this is lovely. It looks like you stenciled the pattern then stained. Nice reclamation! -
Very pretty Linda. I'm so happy you didn't paint it. -
Thanks ladies.....I got the idea from a post on here :). Yes I stenciled the pattern with white acrylic then stained the table. As for painting, don't like doing that to much I enjoy seeing the wood grain in wood. -
Yay! I was beginning to think everyone had gone paint mad! I love the grain on wood. I just refinished a dining table for our son and will post pictures of it as soon as I get the drop leaves attached. I need to tighten the apron first. -
Can't wait to see it!! -
I Love the wood, but I'm still a fan of combining the two...I was trying to remember when that started cause I really DO love the grain on beautiful wood...Then I realized my very first "purchased new furniture " Dining room set had painted legs, skirt etc, and a solid pecan top...the chairs matched...Painted and Pecan seat ....the matching china cabinet was painted fronts and Pecan shelves and whatever you call the counter like top also in solid Pecan wood...a really Beautiful set...I loved it a LOT! -
@Sharron,I agree the combination can be amazing.......but I prefer on some of the older pieces I have found to bring back the glory of the old wood to close to what it should be. But there are certain combinations of wood and paint that do work well together too! -
Oh yes there are definately vintage pieces that need to be restored to their former glory... I have a tiger striped maple dresser that I found on the side of the road and I would certainly never paint anything on it! I can't wait to have time to get to that project! -
Oh and I can't wait to see it Sharron! Sounds drool worthy. -
Every drawer has a lock....can you imagine putting that on the curb? I think his wife made him...cause when I got back with the truck and started loading it the man drove up and said wistfully...that used to be my grandmother's...she loved it so...then he helped me load it... -
Oh that's sad! I would never make my hubby give something away like that. Even it was hideous! If you remember where it was you got it, I'd take pictures of it after you've refinished it and send him a copy letting him know it's being cherished in it's new home. -
Let us know when it is complete........thats a lucky find, yet sad at same time but at least it didnt go to the trash pile right........look at it as it will be saved instead :)
