Elegant Tea

Do you ever have a special occasion that you'd like to present a special table setting for? A real pull out your best stuff day?
This month I'm doing a series of pink table settings to raise funds for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. This second setting of the series is called “Elegant Byzantine Tea” and is the most regal of the group. It is set by the fireside and is presented as an intimate afternoon tea. (For info about the fundraiser click here: http://designthusiasm.com/charitable-settings/. To see the first setting in the series click here: http://designthusiasm.com/chippy-dinner-party/.)
The setting is built around Versace’s Byzantine Dreams dinnerware, by Rosenthal China. The pink and gold pattern offers a rich base, eliciting dreams of gilding and gemstones, both hinted at in this tableau.
Soft pink roses add a touch of quiet elegance and pretty simplicity, all that’s necessary on this opulent stage.
The blush linen napkin from Pom Pom at Home, with its delicate ruffle, has shown its versatility in a range of settings I’ve done. Bejeweled napkin rings from Pier 1 in amber tones work well with the theme.
The gilded clock on the mantle is flanked by lovely bits of pink, from candles and roses, to blush wines from Provence.
Croissants and pink champagne are perhaps more suggestive of brunch than tea, but fit nicely amidst the well bred elements on the bistro table.
A closer view of the plate stack reveals the beauty of the pattern mix, set against the gilded chargers. Vintage silver flatware holds its own alongside the regal place setting.
A pink depression glass dessert set is presented on the plate stand. French Aubusson pillows add comfort and a touch of color to the scene. The tablecloth is vintage blush damask. For more details and photos, as well as the other pink settings in this series, please see the blog.
