Front Porch Bench Makeover

The Bench we keep on the front porch broke a board...and realistically we've been working on the house itself, so I didn't realize just how shabby it had gotten until I looked at the photos I took before and after. Well that said I re-finished the Bench and am sure happy with the new look.

It turned out beautiful-I like the blue and love the scrollwork!. Now you will have a spot to rest when you need to take a break from working on the house.

Well my neighbor comes over and we frequently sit together on the bench...BUT as with many things after a while you don't really see it anymore and until the board broke...well i had no idea how bad it really was!

A pretty solid salesman sat on our bench one day, and darned near ended up on the flagstone! He felt the movement and shifted to one of the metal chairs........apologizing for breaking the bench. New wood went in very soon afterwards. Your scroll work on this bench is very attractive. I haven't seen any like that down here.

@Becky I had originally thought I would just paint it Black and Blue...and once the iron was painted i realized how much detail was lost. So remembering I had a small jar of Gold Metallic paint "somewhere" I dug it out and just finger rubbed over the detail. I was so much happier with the results! The Blue was my rebellion over my hubby painting everything on the porch a flat eggshell brown...I told him I was going to paint the shutters and front door this color and I thought he was gonna ...»
stroke out...LOL It's too loud for that but when I paint the potter's bench I'm going to paint it in something close to but maybe more subdued than this cause it's huge....

Sharron, I painted our laundry room door tequila sunrise pink when my hubby was on a business trip, and fully expected him to stroke out when he saw it. Instead, when he first saw it, he said he really liked it! What a shock to me. I say "go for it"!!

Spiffy. Looks great. I've been trying to get my husband to build something to hang a swing on - we have a black swing in the basement (standing on end) - I have a vision of it out in the yard painted periwinkle blue.

@Mary...it wouldn't take much to improve that drab brown...LOL He color matched the bricks then painted the shutters and front door....so there is Nothing to distinguish anything about our old drab house...LOL

@Ellen H - don't you know how to get your husband to get busy on whatever it takes to hang the swing??? YOU gotta get it out and paint it first. Then he'll see how great it looks and it'll motivate him to get it in gear!! LOL

Beautiful job done. I spray painted a wrought iron bench this year, too. It's given me such pleasure. Hope you are enjoying yours, too.
