Capernius on May 26, 2015I have been around enough snapping turtles to know what one looks like, & the turtle in those pics is a snapper. They will thrive in areas with water....the more water the better. My advice is to take a stick long enough to keep fingers & hands at a safe distance, then take that stick & try to get him to bite it...you can do this by thumping his nose gently/lightly. once he bites down on the stick, deposit him & the stick in a 5 gallon bucket, then take him to a river/creek/lake/etc & dump him out at water's edge. With any kind of luck, that will be the last you will see of that turtle. Lastly, the farther away from people you take him, the better. the last thing that ANY turtle wants, is human confrontation.
