A LOG BED
I wish I could post a picture of this on here. Unfortunately I am not able to at this time.

3po3 on Aug 07, 2012Would it be impractical to add some type of step up on to the bed? If not, the sky is really the limit on the reuses for the bed, but you might see if you can sell it on Craigslist or something first. I'm sure somebody would love to have it, and you might be able to recoup some of the cost of the bed.Helpful Reply

KMS Woodworks on Aug 07, 2012It is not too much work to shorten the legs of a log bed. I built a log bed some years back and recently we switched from a futon mattress to a regular mattress...this raised the bed some but not to a level that makes is challenging to get in or out. In our case there is no box spring...just the mattress. Depending on how yours in configured you might be able to rework the frame to do away with the box spring. http://www.hometalk.com/kevin/board/133313Helpful Reply

ChrisWheeler53 on Aug 07, 2012We had a real high bed and mattress. Gary went to the mattress store and had the frames and we lowered our bed about 3 inches.Helpful Reply

Warren G. on Aug 12, 2012You could make two simple "X" frame out of 2"x4" lumber and put 3/8" plywood over it the size of your box springs. This is how water beds are made. This will lower your bed so that it is not as hard to get in and out of the bed and easier on your back. Now take your Log Head Board and mound it to the underside of the "X" frame and 3/8" plywood with "L" brackets that you can find at any hardware store, they come with holes already drilled in them and screws. Then do the same with the Foot Board. After all the Head Board and Foot Board are the reason you bought the bed in the first place not because of the side rails.Helpful Reply
