A rainy Saturday is perfect for completing inside projects. I have been putting off a faux brick backsplash project for over a month. I am also adding wood corbels under the cabinets. Thank you so very much for your sharing for this critical issue of sanity for me. I have been looking for almost 20 years on how to get rid of, do over, anything.... to rid my sight from the accumulation kitchen grease and dirt off my faux brick back splash. At first I loved the accept of seeing exposed brick as character, but how fast we learn the hard way. If you are thinking of installing this FAUX BRICK STOP AND THINK...DO NOT DO IT. Why, you will learn as I did the hard way one can not clean it or at least it as thoroughly as I like things clean. I am so sincerely grateful for your post and sharing of this fabulous life or at least sanity saving way for a tight budget to get the best of both worlds. I am a new fan of yours for life probably now. I also have lived the military life style , as a child. I loved reading you blog bio awesome. But I do run my own boot camp as a mom of five sons. So clean is imperative for me with the children and the dogs and cats and then there is my husband, non-military back ground, Need I say more...other than THANK YOU!

I assume that is the "red brick-black grout" panels from Menards or other chain. There's an excellent faux technique to make those panels look like real, aged brick. You could never tell unless you touched it. Nice idea btw. Gray is becoming increasing popular in kitchen color schemes. I myself have gray cabinets, glazed to create dimension and contrast.
