HVAC System Replaced
*Options I considered for this project:
We got quotes from: Coolray, Casteel, Home Depot, Hammocks and Dayco Systems.
*Questions and unexpected events that arose during the project:
Choosing the right system is very important!
*My motivation to do this project:
Our system was the original system with the house and was on it's last leg. It was 17 years old and very loud. The furnace needed repaired last year as well. Now was just a good time with the $1500 tax credit to benefit from as well.
*Project Steps:
After listening to all of the different contractors we decided to go with a Trane system. The furnace is 80% energy efficient and still qualifies for the tax credit. The air condenser is a 3-ton unit. Apparently the 95% furnaces have plastic components that cause drainage problems. The main (variable Speed) blower also has issues. Salesman get a kickback for selling this more complex and expensive furnace so be on the look out for some one just trying to fatten their wallet, rather than providing you a long lasting system.
Advice:
Don't waste your time with Coolray. They have a baseball stadium to pay for and their quote was $4000 higher than everyone else...

Imabadfish on Sep 15, 2010Dayco Systems was great. They came out and completed the job in one day. They listened to my requests and even vacuumed my house after they were done. Very clean and professional staff. I would recommend to every one.
