Painting Living Room and Dining Room

Joanne B
by Joanne B
Painting entire downstairs living room, dining room, kitchen, family room, hallways, and foyer, eventually pulling up the carpet and laying engineered hardwood floors.
*My motivation to do this project:
We are wanting to personalize our home
*Project Steps:
We purchased the materials, now we are looking into starting the free classes at Floor and Decor outlet on how to lay down the hardwoods. Our goal is to complete a room every other weekend because of our hectic schedules.
Advice:
Don't buy cheap paint brushes. They will leave streaks in the paint and wont leave a good smooth finish. Don't underestimate time that you should put into painting. I would say to start off in small pieces to get a good quality look of a professional. Do have fun with it afterall its your house.
Choose bright colors for darker rooms that lack natural sunlight.
Do buy all of the paint you may need because sometimes if you run out and have to take it back up there to be matched again, sometimes the colors are not exactly the same.
Materials:
6 gallons X Paint/Primer (Behr) - $131.82
5 X Paint Brushes and Rollers - $40.00
2 rolls X Plastic covers - $11.00
7 boxes X Brazillian Cherry Engineered Flooring - $900.00

I couldn't agree more about buying good quality brushes. I learned years ago that cheap brushes leave a poor finish and cause you to constantly have to stop to remove bristles that are left behind. Nice work!!

Like the yellow in the dining room. Pain the yellow sections in the wainscoting. It shouldn't look like the wall is showing through. Also looks more "professional". This is what I would do (and have done) in client's homes.
