Changing a Brick Wall
by
Wayne B
(IC: homeowner)
Adding a wall on top of a brick wall. Building a drywall surface to have smooth finish surface.
*My motivation to do this project:
To change the look of my family room, updating the space and adding value to my home.
*Project Steps:
I did not like the old wall of brick and wanted to make the wall look more updated. I built a full wall in front of the brick wall by using 2 x 4 and creating a base and header along with wall studs. I ran new electrical for my flat screen television and stero system.
Advice:
Do add a mantel- I am in the process of pricing one now.
Materials:
Total Project Materials - $5000.00

DJF Designs on Oct 30, 2010I'm wondering why you had to demo old brick wall. That looked like it was a lot of work and messy. Couldn't you have framed the wall just in front of it. Don't get me wrong, it looks great!
