Thanksgiving Table Settings

I’m crazy about Christmas, but Thanksgiving is a very close second. In a world where we seem to get so caught up on trivial things and the rush of life, I love that Thanksgiving is all about slowing down, spending time with family, and reflecting on what’s truly important.
This Thanksgiving table was all about keeping it casual, and incorporating memories of loved ones into the table, so that when we sit down to share our meal, it’s a story, of our family, things that I love, and those we gather with and the people that we miss so much and fill our hearts at this time of year.
I started with a tablecloth from my wedding. It’s honestly one of two tablecloths I own–can’t go wrong with white. Then I added a piece of polka dot lace over the top ( $1.00/yd at Ikea and it makes me HAPPY!). My mom passed away almost 10 years ago, and the longing always deepens a little more this time of year when our family gathers together, so the most essential thing at my Thanksgiving table, is her china. It’s a way to have a little piece of her at the table with us, because it was something she loved, and because I remember waking up Thanksgiving mornings with her, pulling out all of the pieces, chatting, and setting a beautiful table for our guests. It’s not Thanksgiving without it.
