I made some traditional dol towers for my niece's 1st birthday party which is happening in a couple weeks! Make these super easy decor pieces using paper towels, beans and glue! Check out my process here: http://alifedesigned.blogspot.ca/2012/09/diy-korean-dol-towers.html

Awwwww, First Birthdays are SO important and I LOVE your thought about achievements to come, our kids always need to know; we Hope, We Pray and We Expect them to accomplish great things in their lives..... My tradition (that I made up, in part based on native American tradition) is to take a fruit tree, or two to the baby shower....in the hopes that the child will never know hunger... I really love how you are helping to keep alive a cultural tradition and at the same time make it your own, new and modern for a new generation! Great job!

I've never heard of that tradition, but it's really lovely. And I love your clever and modern take on it. And Sharron, I love the fruit tree idea, too. I know the wee ones in your life are well loved.

Thanks Steve and thanks for sharing Sharron! I think it's beautiful- not corny at all. I think traditions are so important to keep alive and making new traditions? Priceless!
