DIY Recycled Framed Wood Wall Art with Monogram (painted and stained)

Our stock pile of wood scraps had been growing significantly. So, in an attempt to repurpose them, and at the same time, create some wall art for our home, I whipped up a little DIY magic. I took several scraps and watered down various paints that we've used in our home. I painted the boards with the watered-down paint for a more "washed" effect. After that, I mounted the painted scraps onto a piece of plywood. Stained some boards for the frame, and then framed the painted boards with the stained boards. The stained trim gave the art piece a more polished look. Then, since I had some scrap left over still from all my angled cuts, I decided to add an "M" for our last name to the piece for a little personalization. And to coordinate a little more, I stained the sides of the "M" and tied it into the frame. To see more: http://designbuildlove.co/pinspired-recycled...

I have always loved the look of wood samples. I don't know why but sanded, smooth and painted with the natural wood showing thru just always grabs my attention. I use to think would it be weird to frame pieces of wood like this and now I see a lot of this, especially in high end stores. Your looks great and so cute how you added the "M". I like how you angled them too.

Donna R - Thanks! I really love the way it turned out, and we were so happy to be able to make such a personal piece of art for our home, all while recycling and reusing! :)
