Painted Furniture: Tuxedo Dresser

What started out as a plain pine dresser has undergone a few transformations before settling on a glossy black finish.
Shiny black paint and gold knobs give this plain dresser an upscale tuxedo look.
Urged on by friends, I bought this ordinary pine dresser at a fundraising auction.
After a failed attempt to create a primitive look by painting a base coat of Emperor Silk chalk paint and then Graphite chalk paint, it was clear and dark waxed. Major fail as I used too much wax and it went all cloudy and streaky.
New coat of wax after removing the original with mineral spirits made it a bit better. It sat in my front foyer to store extra tablecloths and linens.
Glossy floor paint was used to achieve the smooth shiny finish. The original black knobs were given new life with a coat of gold spray paint. He's all dressed and ready to party now!
